MCC

Microcrystaline Cellulose IP

Advantage of MCC

This grade is well suited for wet granulation, roller compaction and spheroniation. AceCel 102 is a medium particle size standard  MCC grade, with an average particle size of 100 Microns. This grade is mostly suited for directly compressible actives.

What is MCC?
Microcrystalline cellulose is a purified, partially depolymerized cellulose prepared by treating alpha-cellulose, obtained as a pulp from fibrous plant material, with mineral acids. The degree of polymerization is typically less than 400. Not more than 10% of the material has a particle size of less than 5 m m.

APPLICATION of Microcrystalline cellulose / MCC

  • Used as a binder in tablet manufacturing to increase tablet hardness & also improves the flow properties
  • Can be used for direct compression tableting and wet granulation
  • Helps prevention of formation of lumps
  • Improves texture & encourages the suspension of one liquid in another
  • Used in ice-cream to prevent ice crystal growth
  • Excellent Glazing agent
  • Excellent freeze-thaw stability
  • Used as a fat substitute in low-calorie food products
  • Thickener in cosmetics and personal care products
  • Binder in facial cosmetics
